Scotland 2004

Lake District - nice and sunny...

...not a cloud in the sky...

...peaceful campsite...

...its a bit early

H aving set up camp on the Moray Firth I immediately had a dolphin sighting, but chasing down the coast didn't help, I just found seabirds.

My second frog of the trip, tiny.

Spey Bay - another distant dolphin sighting and lots of feeding birds

An Elephany Hawk-Moth caterpillar that crossed the path.

Spey Bay from the sailing boat Dolphinicity

Bottlenose Dolphin!

They had a head start from Lossiemouth but we caught them up

Approximately twelve in the pod.

I was busy photographing this group...

...when they got out of the sunlight

Close enough to blow water on my lens

growing up to 4m.

Loch Garten

The Cairngorm Mountains

Abernethy Forest, complete with dog walkers so no birds

A spider building its orb web.

A mainland Red Squirrel

Seals on a shingle bank

Hopehead harbour, not far from the tent

Bottlenose dolphin...

...at Channonry Point...

...bang on cue - just after the high tide

Fairy Glen (perched on a waterfall so its "arty")

A place to walk the dogs apparently

On the shores of Loch Ness

Waterfalls that disappear under the road, the previous night's heavy rain is clearly not unusual

Nice drive but random weather

The drizzle seems to enhance the picture here, its only a stream due to a large dam behind me.

Skye, or lack of it.
Plenty of rainbows this trip, time to find a bunkhouse!

Tallisker (& the island's distillery)

Nice view though

Neist Point, its cleared up nicely.

The lighthouse on the most westerly point of Skye

Nice view

but which way to look?

Visitors seem to be having a cairn building competition.

A nice afternoon for watching Minke Whales.

The last one I watched was feeding just off shore...

...giving some nice 5 shot roll sequences.

And here is another.

Calgary beach on Mull in a short dry spell.

The dunes are being encouraged as a rare habitat

Some Tobermory shots...

...nice colourful harbour.

Going out in soggy conditions to see Harbour Porpoise.
